On the Roadtoday we traveled through North Carolina, West Virginia, Normal Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio before arriving in Indiana. I guess because our eventual destination includes farming I was paying attention to the many farms that we drove by through these states. Almost all of the farms were abandoned, falling apart, or decaying in some way or another. Maybe farming became obsolete in these places when other people in other countries could do it for cheaper. I tried to think of some kind of entrepreneurial venture to transform abandoned farmlands into something usable but all we could really think of was suburbs.
